Settling In If you have moved this summer, you are aware that it takes a while to feel truly settled in. Here are some things you might have forgotten in the rush to get moved and get the kids settled in school.
If mail has been forwarded to you, notify the senders of your new address. Update your drivers license and auto registration. Even a cross-town move requires notifying the Department of Motor Vehicles. Register to vote, or submit a change of address. Update your auto insurance policy. If you have moved from out of town, select doctors and dentists and have your records transferred. Open new bank accounts and transfer funds from your old bank. Gather all the documents and receipts pertaining to your move and your new home. They may be needed when you file your taxes. And get to know your neighbors. They are your best source of recommendations for many of the services you will need such as plumbers and auto mechanics, not to mention baby-sitters, hair stylists and restaurants.
